Our bodies require essential nutrients to survive:

There is a mountain of conflicting information out there, so we’ll start with some basics.

Balance of nutrients:

Macronutrients are: Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats. These are required by the body in larger amounts.

Micronutrients are: Water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, microminerals, and trace minerals. These are required in smaller amounts.

Essentially, the key is to consume a balanced diet which includes:

  • Protein for cell growth and repair and a wide range of metabolic interactions.

  • Carbohydrates provide energy (including supply of glucose to fuel the brain) and fiber for a healthy digestive system.

  • Fats transport and absorb fat-soluble minerals and vitamins, for energy and to support cell growth. Each person is an individual, with unique factors including genes and lifestyle, which means there is no perfect diet for all humans.

  • Vitamins and Minerals: Essential for a multitude of complex functions throughout the body.

  • Water: hydration is essential for life.

A balanced diet can provide the essential nutrients when sourced from high quality produce.

However sometimes a person’s body is under stress from life-style factors, or that foods are depleted, a common occurrence, resulting from modern farming practises. In which case supplements can be included.
